Pikes Peak Ascent DNF

My first ever DNF in a race: the Pikes Peak Ascent.
But it wasn't because I quit; I got turned around near A-Frame with arond 3.5-miles left to go (9+ miles in.) I had to go all the way back, so my total distance was 18 miles. I'm disappointed but I can't be angry. The safety of the competitors, and more importantly, the race staff and volunteers is paramount.

I hear we're getting our finishers shirt and medal. I think I going to have "DNF - A Frame Turnaround - 18 miles" embroidered on it...

St Baldrick's: I'll shave my head to combat cancer....

To all,

Yes, this is a shameless Blogspot fundraising request.

My page:
http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/shavee_info.html?ParticipantKey=2008-31789

Each year around, April, I shave my head to raise money to combat childhood cancer. I don't know any children with cancer, but if I can do anything to raise a couple of bucks for a good cause, count me in!

This is part of the St Baldrick's program to raise money to combat children's cancer.

I'm on a team with a couple of guys from my unit/office. Our team name is "Bald Eagles" (see links above.)

Thanks in advance. If you see me and want to give me a cash or coins, just let me know!!!

Best "Out of Office" Email Replies

I appreciate when people turn on the "Out of Office" feature in email to tell me why they're ingoring my emails for weeks on end...anyway, here are some good "Our of Office" replies:

1. I am currently out at a job interview and will reply to you if I fail to get the position. Be prepared for my mood.

2. You are receiving this automatic notification because I am out of the office. If I was in, chances are you wouldn't have received anything at all.

3. Sorry to have missed you, but I am at the doctor's having my brain and heart removed so I can be promoted to our management team.

4. I will be unable to delete all the unread, worthless emails you send me until I return from vacation. Please be patient and your mail will be deleted in the order it was received.

5. Thank you for your email. Your credit card has been charged $5.99 for the first 10 words and $1.99 for each additional word in your message.

6. The e-mail server is unable to verify your server connection and is unable to deliver this message. Please restart your computer and try sending again. (The beauty of this is that when you return, you can see how many in-duh-viduals did this over and over.)

7. Thank you for your message, which has been added to a queuing system. You are currently in 352nd place, and can expect to receive a reply in approximately 19 weeks.

8. Hi, I'm thinking about what you've just sent me. Please wait by your PC for my response.

9. I've run away to join a different circus.

10. I will be out of the office for the next 2 weeks for medical reasons. When I return, please refer to me as 'Loretta' instead of 'Larry'

Tonight's Lesson Learned: Never trust a phone survey!

OMG...So I get a call, "I've from the Associated Press. Do you mind taking a short survey about recent stories in the news?"

"Sure!" I say. I'm smart, I watch the news. The questions awere about food safety, computer games, and my digital music habits....THAT'S NOT NEWS!!! That's a pop-culture survey (I was waiting for the Britney and Lindsey questions...)

(Remember he said, "short survey")
So...25 minutes later...YES, a "short" survey that took almost half an hour!!!

Oh yeah, a question about "draught (draft) keg beer." "What companies or brands do you think about when you think of draught (draft) beer?" Maybe, that's what took so long...listing all the companies and brands of beer: AnBusch, Miller, Coors, regional and local microbrews. Then the surveyer asks, "Why do you say Coors....?" Maybe, because Coors makes draught (draft) beer....
Why'd I take the survey? I figured I got nuthin better to do by myslef on a Wed night...

Lesson learned: Never trust a "short survey."
